G Mixolydian

G · A · B · C · D · E · F

G Mixolydian is a major scale with a flattened seventh, which makes it the natural fit over a dominant seventh chord. It's the sound of blues-rock, jam bands, funk, and Celtic melody — major and cheerful, but with a bluesy edge that stops it resolving too neatly. One of the most immediately useful modes to learn.
