G Double Harmonic Major
G · A♭ · B · C · D · E♭ · F♯
Often called the gypsy or Byzantine scale, G Double Harmonic Major has a flat second, major third, flat sixth, and major seventh, producing two augmented seconds — one at each end. That symmetry gives it an intensely ornate, Middle Eastern character. Widely used in Balkan, Arabic, and Jewish music, and popular with metal guitarists.
