D Locrian
D · E♭ · F · G · A♭ · B♭ · C
With both a flattened second and a flattened fifth, D Locrian is the darkest of the seven major-scale modes and the only one whose tonic chord is diminished. That lack of a stable fifth makes it hard to write in, so it mostly appears over half-diminished chords in jazz and in short, unsettled passages in metal. A colour more than a key.

Smooth Jazz Backing Track - Golden Sunset in Dm (99 BPM)
An excellent choice for creating tension and mysterious effects, especially over diminished chords.
