A Double Harmonic Major
A · B♭ · C♯ · D · E · F · G♯
Often called the gypsy or Byzantine scale, A Double Harmonic Major has a flat second, major third, flat sixth, and major seventh, producing two augmented seconds — one at each end. That symmetry gives it an intensely ornate, Middle Eastern character. Widely used in Balkan, Arabic, and Jewish music, and popular with metal guitarists.
