A Dorian B2

A · B♭ · C · D · E · F♯ · G
The second mode of melodic minor, A Dorian B2 is a Dorian scale with a flattened second — the groove of Dorian with a touch of Phrygian darkness at the bottom. Jazz players use it over suspended and minor chords needing extra colour. The flat second is the whole point, so make your lines actually use it.
